| We Get Sick to Get Well |
|
Our sickness is related to hereditary causes and causes outside of our awareness, or it is coming from our experiences and causes which are outside of our awareness. Western medicine specialists are defending the idea that sickness is caused by various factors coming from outside the body. Microbiological organisms, physical traumas, and environments which cause an increase of the previous two are considered the main reasons for people getting sick. Based on the research in recent years doctors have started to accept that, besides all these external factors, internally created stress and deep sadness also have an influence on health. According to traditional Western medicine, for a person to be cured, it is enough to either remove the microbiological organisms such as bacteria, virus and fungus from the body, teach the body to fight with them, or remove the person’s stress and sadness by increasing their coping skills. Also, according to the specialists, after treating the physical damage due to a trauma, you can safely send the patient home. This person is now healed. Or is he? If you are sick you don’t look into what is happening inside of you, so you don’t see it. When we look at this situation from the view of holistic healing, we see that the Western medical approach provides a narrow perspective that only allows for partial healing. Holistic medicine doesn't see sickness as something coming from outside the body. On the contrary the sickness is created by the mind of the body, so that what is invisible inside can become visible. No matter where the sickness stems from, it is there to show us parts of our unconscious mind. In fact sickness is a form of unconsciousness, which is coming to the surface to be noticed by our conscious mind. Let me explain what I mean by this. Each organ in the body is associated with certain emotions. For example, problems with the heart reflect back to our lack of love, whereas problems with the stomach refer to our denying the new. Liver problems are connected to our anger and problems with the gall bladder indicate our revenge motives. First, the body aims to protect the vital internal organs. Therefore these emotions are embodied as problems in the external parts of the body in a mild way. For example, if you are an angry person but cannot accept it because of shame, you would be likely to get sick from suppressing the anger. At the same time anger contains the seed of creativity. If we accept that we are angry and transform that anger to creativity, the fast and harsh vibration caused by this emotion starts to flow softly and turns into something useful. The more we don't face our anger and try to ignore it, the stronger it will become. Eventually it will accumulate in the liver causing suppression. This accumulation and suppression of anger will be reflected as problems in the eyes, which are connected directly to the liver energy. For example, being near-sighted, which can happen at any age, shows a fear of the future. Let’s explain this: All humans are afraid of the unknown and the biggest unknown which is the future. Even though we are aware that everyone has the same fear, some of us don’t like to be called cowards. As we try to suppress our fear, gradually we get used to it and in the end ignore it totally. Instead of facing our fear, we continue to feel angry towards ourselves (How can I be so afraid?). Our body knows the importance of the liver. It also knows that anger creates accumulated energy in the liver. The survival value of protecting the liver is also part of the wisdom of the body. In this case, our body which wants to protect the liver shows this fear based anger as near sightedness. If I can tell myself: ‘I face my fear of the future and give myself the right to be afraid’, then the possibility for my eyes to get better emerges. Saying this sentence to myself with the intention of releasing fear and anger, not as a lie but as an act of accepting something which I became aware of, my eyes can fully recover, since they don’t feel the need to reflect back on this problem anymore. Being far-sighted on the other hand is an inner voice which is telling us that ‘we are avoiding looking into our near future or inside us’. As we try to heal our eyes conventionally, we are in fact turning their voice down and our body continues to reflect back our avoidance through important organs. In our example this important organ is the liver and again in this organ problems emerge. Our muscles and eyes give feedback about the condition of the liver. Our ears, bones and hair refer to the condition of the kidney. Our tongue, mouth and teeth reflect the condition of the stomach, spleen and pancreas. Our skin is about the condition of the lungs and large intestines. Listening to their messages will help to protect the important internal organs. Trying to suppress their voice through antibiotics, prosthesis, surgery or other methods might cause other bigger problems which are harder to heal. |
